The Best Gucci “Aria” Pieces
Every now and then something special happens in fashion. Something that is undeniably genius and historic. Being the fashion enthusiast I am, I had to share with all of you something that brought me joy this last week. Unless you’ve been under a rock these last couple of weeks, then you’ve probably heard about that latest Gucci x Balenciaga collaboration. The “Aria” collection was a celebration of 100 years of Gucci and featured collaborations with Tom Ford and Demna Gvsalia of Balenciaga. Alessandro Michele is known for his eclectic and maximalist approach when it comes to designing for Gucci and by Fashion Week standards, he was late to present but we think it was well worth the wait. Michele had this to say about the Aria collection,
“To escape the reactionary cages of purity, I pursue a poetics of the illegitimate,” Michele explains in the show notes. “In this sense, Gucci becomes for me a hacking lab, made of incursions and metamorphoses. An alchemical factory of contaminations where everything connects to anything. A place where thefts and explosive reactions happen: a permanent generator of sparkles and unpredictable desires. On this occasion, then, I want to honour my filial affection betraying the legacy that was handed down to me. Because the promise of a never-ending birth is only renewed through an evolving capacity.”
A celebration of the past, present and future, the Aria collection featured items that are sure to sell out, but I can still try to get my hands on some things right? I would make all the necessary room in my closet for these pieces I’m about to share with you. Keep reading to see my picks (and predictions) of what will be the most coveted pieces from this legendary and already iconic collection. Until next time.
Sincerely,
The Closet Correspondent
