Sea Moss Tea - A Healthy Start to Your Day
During lockdown, quarantine and whatever it is that we're doing now, we figured we had two choices: 1. Give in to our every desire where food is concerned or 2. Pick up some healthier habits and come out on the otherside, a new and improved person. Let’s just say we had to go through option #1 to get to option #2. We did both! We Door Dashed practically every night for dinner and when we ran through every menu option on the app we decided to make some changes.
Now we still have our Door Dash app...and Uber Eats and Postmates. Come on, we’re still human here, but we decided to add something extra to our tea, smoothies, and even our salad dressings. It’s not a fiber supplement and it's not collagen although those are important too. It's actually sea moss that’s our new guest star in our diet. Sea moss aka Irish sea moss has infinite health benefits and since it's practically tasteless can be incorporated into many different meals and beverages.
Sea moss can be ingested in the form of soups, salad dressings, smoothies, teas and can also be topically applied in lotions and facial masks. There are many benefits that come from sea moss. It can be harvested and turned into a gel-like consistency that’s easy to blend and use for cooking. Some benefits of sea moss are skin protection, aid in digestion, aid in weight loss, anti-aging properties, internal deodorant, balancing pH levels, improved immunity and essential vitamins. That’s just to name a few! Personally we have yet to fashion a face or hair mask using sea moss or to add it to our favorite casserole or salad dressing, but we’re getting there. Right now, we’re simply adding it to our tea.
It’s super simple to add sea moss gel to your tea and it literally takes only minutes to brew the perfect cup. Since sea moss is virtually tasteless, in fact so tasteless you could eat it straight from the jar, it goes well with any tea. Oolong, chamomile or even green tea is a worthy match but we especially love a raspberry hibiscus brew for our sea moss tea. The first step is to boil a small pot of water and then bring it to a simmer before you add in a spoonful or two of sea moss. Stir occasionally as the sea moss dissolves into the water. Then, pour the sea moss water into your cup and add your tea bag of choice. We like a squeeze of lemon and honey to our tea for taste and there you have it, the perfect cup of sea moss tea and a great start to every morning. Enjoy this once a day and notice the change in your body, and yes, you can thank us later. By the way, the Closet Correspondent heartily endorses this.
Drink up!
