New Mom, New Style
A common sentiment we’ve run into when conversing with new mothers is the question of, “what’s my new style now that I’m a mom?” It’s true that with this new little one, a new mom has a new identity and learning how to access their new look could be a bit challenging. Becoming a new mom is a significant life transition, but it doesn't mean you have to put your fashion sense on hold and while comfort and practicality are essential when caring for a little one, it doesn't mean you have to sacrifice your personal style. In fact, motherhood can be a chance to explore a new kind of chic, combining functionality with fashion forward choices and we have a couple ideas on how to do so.
In our opinion the key to staying chic as a new mom is simplicity. Not only is it functional for your new and unpredictable day-to-day life but if you can find a way to create a capsule wardrobe of elevated basics, this could be your solution to a new look. Opt for easy to wear, comfortable clothing that can withstand the demands of motherhood. Invest in high-quality basics like well-fitting jeans, versatile tees, and cozy cardigans that can be mixed and matched effortlessly. Jumpsuits and shirt dresses are stylish one-piece wonders that require minimal effort but look put-together and can be customized with statement accessories like chunky sunglasses or layered necklaces. Don't forget to choose fabrics that are soft, breathable, and forgiving, as they'll keep you comfortable throughout the day.
As we mentioned above, accessories are not to be discounted or forgotten. We think it's best to invest in pieces that you can wear everyday, are easy to style and are made from high quality and durable materials. Accessories are your secret weapons for elevating any outfit, but child or not, you already knew that. Invest in a statement bag, such as a stylish diaper bag that combines function with fashion. There are some fabulous luxury tote bags that would easily store all of the necessities and we also like a lot of the leather backpack styles that are on the market as well. When it comes to footwear, slip-on sneakers, stylish flats or laceless ankle boots are not only comfortable for running after your little one but can also complete your look effortlessly. Sunglasses are a must for those sometimes tired eyes, and a chic hat is great for those days when hair didn’t make the list of priorities which if we’re being honest, even those of you who don’t have children could use that tip. Just saying.
Not to sound corny or cringe-y but embracing that self-confidence is always a vibe and even though we know that there are days where just brushing your teeth is an accomplishment - remember that motherhood is the ultimate power move. And just because you’re a new mom doesn’t mean you have to abandon your former style. It’s still there and finding small ways to incorporate it into your new look will only add to your new found style.
