Key For Your Locks
This year was the year of the blowout. The year of trying something new whether it’s getting over a relationship or starting a new job or just getting out of your comfort zone. It’s one thing to get that big chop or to do the big bleach job but it’s another when it comes to the aftercare. So, how do we maintain our hair look without sacrificing shine, length and density? Luckily there are some great aftercare hair tips for damaged hair that won’t have to cost you an arm and a leg or another hair reformation just to get back your once healthy hair. We have some tried and true tips we think may help you as well or at least point you in the right direction.
One treatment we have researched, and by research we mean actually tried ourselves is the K18 bonding treatment. So, what is this exactly and is it good for my hair? There are many other names and brands that offer this treatment but this is just the general name we know by word of mouth, i.e. the internet. Basically, this treatment is good for all types of hair: curly, thin, straight and color treated or not. It boasts to have a miraculous four minute transformation, and we wouldn’t argue with that claim one bit. This product leaves hair smooth, silky and soft as it works with the innermost layers of hair to rebond the hair that has been damaged by heat, color damage and environmental effects. It’s vegan, color safe and free of parabens and all of that other bad stuff you want to avoid putting on your locks.
Another tip for those of you who love to use heat on your hair daily is to invest in a high quality heat protectant. We like to double down and use a cream and spray solution. This also prevents frizz and reduces split ends while protecting your hair from harsh daily heat usage. Would you go out to the beach without sunscreen? Hopefully not, so think of your hair in the same way. Often these products use oils like jojoba and argan to seal in moisture and create a protective barrier for your hair as well.
On a similar note, the aftercare you use after using heat is just as important. There are a plethora of masks that you can use that you generally apply either for 15 minutes or even overnight that do double duty on keeping your locks moisturized which as result makes them stronger, softer and more resilient. It’s even great to make some of these at home yourself using coconut oil, honey and avocado oil to achieve those salon grade masks that can cost you an arm and a leg. Usually using these types of masks once or twice a week is enough. Also utilizing a leave-in conditioner for added moisture and using a silk pillowcase or hair bonnet prevents breakage while you sleep at night. We also recommend using a Wet Brush, or switching to a wide tooth comb to prevent breakage while you comb your hair fresh out of the shower or before you style it. Using all of these tips together you should be able to see a drastic difference in your hair health. All it takes is commitment and consistency and some added conscious effort to get your hair in tip-top shape.
