“No Pants” Trend
Taking a bit of a segue from Ballet Core it seems we’ve now pivoted to the “no pants” trend. Yeah, we were a bit confused like I’m sure you are as well but we’ve done the research and somehow figured out how to make this trend work in a chic and dare we say, sophisticated way? If we look at the timeline it seemed like biker shorts were all the rage about two years ago, then the pandemic brought on sweatpants and then from there it was micro mini skirts and short-shorts so is it surprising that we’ve graduated to literally no pants at all?
Designers are responsible for us all ditching or pants at home. Sending looks down the runway with models wearing men's boxer briefs or even just tights with a blazer and t-shirt have been some minor observations we’ve seen. We’ve also seen the resurgence of looks including oversize lengthy blazers with heels, boots or even trainers. We have to admit the appeal of this low-maintenance yet chic look has us curious to try it out ourselves.
There’s a way to execute this look without coming off as too overtly sexual or even, dare we say, trashy. It all goes back to our love for mixing high-low fashion. One way is to take a cue from Kylie Jenner or even Hailey Beiber. Stepping out in jet black tights with black undies underneath to leave something to the imagination is a great start. Try pairing this with a tailored tee or even a white button down with a french tuck and layer a long gray or brown oversized wool jacket over to complete the look. Want to elevate a bit more? Try a pair of stiletto pointed toe heels or go more casual with some lace up combat boots.
Another trend the internet couldn’t ignore was Bella Hadid’s no pants looks. Casually eating pizza, as she loves to do while strolling down the streets of NYC we saw Bella in a pair of what seemed to be oversized men’s underwear but unexpectedly casual with some slouchy white socks and platform uggs, a moto jacket and some chic sunglasses. She took a style that would seem provocative and even could be sexualized and interpreted in a casual, everyday style that seems accessible to anyone. It shows that this look can be taken to the red carpet, to the pizza parlor or heck, maybe even a date, if you’re feeling bold. But that’s the thing about fashion right? We dress because we want to express and hey, if no pants is expressing how you feel that day, then you should go for it, right? Let us know what you think of the no pants trend. Is it for you or are you going to say “pass” and get back to your biker shorts and micro minis for summer?
