Favorite Skirts For Spring
Skirts in the springtime are an excellent style choice as they can be equally stylish as they are comfortable and functional. Spring is a great time to embrace the many different styles of skirts whether it’s an A-line, maxi or mini skirt, the possibilities are endless. Not only is length a factor but also material, print and texture are all components you can have fun with when shopping for skirts this spring but we decided to narrow it down to our top three skirt styles we think are going to really pack a punch this spring. Let us know what you think and which styles you’re going to be wearing this season.
It looks like this spring is all about the bohemian maxi skirt trend. Long flowing floor grazing maxi dresses have been on our radars and while it may not seem the coolest option for the summer heat that’s fast approaching we must admit it’s very chic and we’re happy to see this trend resurface. In particular we are excited to style maxi denim skirts as well as satin and silk ones too. Some tips to keep in mind when styling maxi skirts is to pair a fitted top or blouse or even crop top or tank to keep a sleek silhouette. We also like the idea of playing high-low with this skirt and styling our maxis with an oversized denim or leather jacket but playing “high” with statement jewelry such as layered necklaces and bracelets.
Another skirt trend ironically making a splash this spring and summer is the mini skirt. Yes, there is room for both the maxi and the mini skirt on this list and we’re relieved we don’t have to choose one over the other this season. For the mini skirt we are excited to see lots of ruched, crocheted and tulle styles this spring which will really give us room to play around with our feminine sides but also with contrast. Pairing a tulle skirt with combat boots or a crocheted skirt with thigh high leather boots makes for an unexpected but balanced outfit this spring and summer.
Finally, this spring we expect to see a lot of cargo infused with our skirts this spring. Interestingly enough, cargo pants have seen a lot of attention this fashion season and it’s starting to leak over into the skirts category. At first we weren’t sure how we felt about this skirt trend but we realized it's another opportunity or should we say “styling challenge” to make our skirts work for us and not the other way around. Whether it’s a mini, midi or maxi cargo skirt we like the masculine undertones it carries so in typical SS fashion we want to choose tops and sweaters that feel more feminine and flirty. We’re also keen on wearing strappy heels or stiletto boots with this skirt and accenting our look with simple accessories since the skirt carries a lot of attention and weight on its own.
