A good night’s sleep is a gift in itself but what about those nights even if they are few and far between, when you wake up not feeling rested? Well, you might be thinking, coffee, duh. But that’s not the solution for those of you (and us included), who really need at least a good uninterrupted eight hours of sleep so we are well rested and productive throughout our day. Great sleep is a commodity and whether you or someone you care for is having trouble sleeping, we have a few ideas and products you should consider adding to your nighttime arsenal.
Our first two items are a white noise machine and a diffuser. Together these two can dramatically reduce sleeping issues while increasing sleeping hours. A white noise machine usually has various sleep sounds to soothe you to sleep and combined with essential oils such as lavender or bergamot in a diffuser, you’ll be able to fall asleep faster and sleep more soundly. Our next item, albeit pretty obvious, is a good sleeping eye mask. We prefer silk sleeping masks because it’s gentle on our delicate skin surrounding our eyes as well as our hair. Sometimes, blocking out any little light that creeps in through the window is just what we need. Now, what also goes hand-in-hand with an eye mask, are noise canceling ear plugs which really create a serene sleeping environment.
Another key investment you insomniacs might want to consider is your bedding. Perhaps you need flannel sheets to keep warmer during the winter, or satin to help regulate your body temperature. Either way, in addition to considering if you need new bedding, a new mattress might be up for consideration as well. But some other things you can do or purchase immediately are a weighted blanket which helps so many because of the pressure helping soothe the body to sleep and maintain it.
Also, try adding some scented candles and bath salts or bombs with lavender, bergamot, German chamomile and ylang-ylang which are all very calming and relaxing aromas to use before bed. Our final and probably most favorite recommendation are some high quality pajamas. Say goodbye to your boyfriend’s gym sweats and old college tee and invest in a set of comfortable and breathable pajamas in high-quality fabric that can make a world of difference in promoting comfort and relaxation.
