Your Winter Manicure

As the winter season approaches, it's time to switch up your nail game and embrace the latest trends in nail shapes, styles, and colors. Last summer we talked about how fruits, polka dots and bright shades of yellows and pinks were the go-to. However we don’t think a pineapple mani-pedi is appropriate mid-November. Your nails can be a canvas for self-expression, and winter provides the perfect time for experimenting with new looks that complement the cozy vibe of the season.

When it comes to nail shapes for winter, we think that coffin and almond shapes are great go-to options. They’re elegant, a bit spooky for October but they add an overall sophistication to not only your nails but overall aesthetic. Plus they are easily customizable if you prefer longer more dramatic talons or a subtle and shy shorter length. No matter the shape, or length they both are elegant choices for winter. Now when it comes to style and color, it’s obvious that rich and warm hues such as deep burgundies and reds, forest greens and even dark browns are on trend but there’s a couple other suggestions we have to really “up” your nail game.

One style is to switch from a shiny top coat to a matte finish and add on some intricate nail art such as crystals or icicle shaped designs or even adding an animated snowflake or Santa Claus hat could be a cute touch for the holidays. Another winter style could be the classic pearl shade polish but instead of a clear coat try adding another coat of frosty glitter that would be an absolute hit at the holiday party. We also like the idea of a pattern, such as a tartan plaid that would ring in some nostalgia of wrapping paper your parents or grandparents may have utilized for gifts around the ol’ Christmas tree. For others a menorah or a Kwanzaa themed pattern could be a nice touch on a single accent nail such as your middle or ring finger. Our final and perhaps more luxurious option is velvet nails. Yes, velvet. Ask your nail tech about this cozy option for a manicure and you are sure to get lots of questions about your unique mani.

We’ve laid out quite the spread of options for your next winter manicure and the good news is, you don’t just have to choose one. For us, we look forward to every two weeks to get the opportunity to try one of these new shapes, styles and even textures. Which one of these are you going to try?
