WTH do I wear to WFH?

Well, it looks like March is here...again. But wait, wasn’t it literally just March five seconds ago? For me personally, I’ve had to make some adjustments since all of this crazy bullshit began just a mere twelve months ago. It’s been hard to have spent such a vast amount of time away from loved ones and family and friends but surprisingly there have been some upsides too. I’ve reconnected with myself, found a new and sharper focus on what’s important and reinvigorated my passion for hobbies I had forgotten. Not to mention I had plenty of time to focus on working out at home and working from home.

“Working from home,” or WFH as we’ve all come to know it, has presented its own set of challenges. Challenges like new work schedules and my personal favorite: Zoom attire. Yes, the old “professional up top, sweatpants down below.” However with the help of Nordstrom online and their Work-from-Anywhere Style collection, I’ve selected a few pieces that are considered my go-to WFH pieces and if you can believe it, none of them are sweatpants or pajama bottoms. Let’s get into it.

1. The Top

Even though we’re at home and mere feet away from our closets, we still don’t want to be spending a bunch of time sifting and searching for our work fits. Well, at least I don’t, I want convenience and comfort without sacrificing style. The Madewell Broadway Cardigan in“muted alabaster”or as I like to say,“cream,”is a must. In a boxy cropped cut with large brown buttons, this sweater can be paired with practically anything from a white tee or layered over a button down. If a sweater is too casual for your Zoom conference meetings, I like to pair it with the Madewell Glen Plaid Double Breasted Wool Blend Blazer. This muted gray and blue check blazer will add some jazz to your WFH ensemble.

2. The Bottom

So they’re not pajamas, they’re not sweats but they're not pants either. They’re jeans. Before, jeans would be too “unprofessional” for the workplace, but now your favorite pair of denim has been promoted to work attire. The Frame Le Sylvie Distressed Straight Leg Jeans are the perfect balance of comfort and professionalism for WFH wardrobe. The way I see it is, I’m getting dressed not only for work, but I’m also ready to jet out the door to enjoy what’s left of my day. By wearing jeans, I feel like I’m also less likely to crawl back into bed or to lay up on the couch binge watching Grey’s Anatomy for the fourth time.

3. The Shoe

Now you’re probably really lost. Thinking, if we’re only seen from the waist up, why even bother with shoes? If, and this is a big“ IF,”you’re like me then maybe you’ll share with me the thought that the more put together my outfit is, then the more productive I’ll be. Having a complete WFH outfit from top to bottom makes me feel like I can take on anything thrown my way. It's the same when we have a “good hair day,” everything else just magically falls into place. So yes, we’re completing this look with a comfortable, but professional work shoe with the Recess Chain Platform Loafer from Jeffrey Campbell. Campbell is known for their funky spins on classic silhouettes that’s why I’ve chosen this shoe as my reliable loafers for all things work-from-home. They’re cozy but appropriate and make me feel ready to take on whatever BS “Karen” is about to say in the group meeting.

Sincerely,
The Closet Correspondent
