Toner And Serums For Winter

We all know winter is responsible for drying out our skin. The harsh winter cold, whether it seems like it or not, has a real effect on the texture and moisture of our skin. When the seasons change, so does our skin, which means so does our skincare routine and products. It seems like just as we find those perfect products for our spring-summer rotation we have to start searching for our fall-winter products to keep our skin healthy and hydrated. We thought we’d help you get ahead of that tedious search and share some of our favorite cold weather toners and serums to help aid and cure the harsh effects of the cold weather seasons.

When we think of toners, we think of alcohol based products that dry out our skin. This is a myth, because there are actually a lot of toners out there that are made for dry skin, which is exactly what we’re looking for this winter. This Yonka Lotion PS Toner For Dry or Sensitive Skin is alcohol-free, leaves skin refreshed and toned and is composed of 99% natural ingredients that hydrate your skin. Its consistency is much like that of a lotion and uses ingredients like thyme, geranium and rosemary to calm the skin. A great addition to your winter skincare regimen.

Another toner we have our eyes on this winter is this Dr. GL Toner For Sensitive Skin Care. These toners that focus on sensitive or dry skin are perfect for the cold weather because they are going to be extra moisturizing and hydrating. This toner also does double-duty by naturally balancing your skin's pH levels and aiding hyperpigmentation by using vitamin C and natural antioxidants to soothe the skin back to health. This toner cleanses away excess oils but does a great job at not stripping the skin of the technically “good” oils that are so essential to our skin health. We’re also obsessed with the chic, forest green packaging that is going to look so good on our bathroom counter.

Serums are an important part of the skin care routine. In fact, they may be one of the most crucial items in your rotation. The proper serum should help with anti-aging by reducing fine lines and wrinkles but it shouldn’t be harsh on the skin by drying it out. You should always combine a serum with sunscreen and/or moisturizer. With that being said, this Obagi Daily Hydro-Drops Hydrating Facial Serum For Dry Skin is a great serum to use during the winter. It’s lightweight so it doesn’t leave a thick, greasy texture after applying but it’s very moisturizing in itself. It uses hibiscus oil, vitamin B3 and abyssinian oil that leaves skin hydrated and smooth all day. Obagi says this is a great product for a “pick-me-up” for the skin and we absolutely agree.

The winter weather can really effect those of us who suffer from sensitive skin, particularly those of us prone to acne. In this case, we need a serum that caters to that and this C-Quench Antioxidant Protective Face Serum from PCA SKIN addresses all of these concerns. Using ingredients such as vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, lilac leaf extract and glutathione, this product energizes the skin, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, hydrates and strengthens the skin all at the same time. It’s a great product to combat acne because it’s lightweight and uses ingredients that benefit sensitive skin. Plus the PCA SKIN brand is dermatologist and aesthetician used and recommended, just in case you were questioning our research ;).

Don’t let the harsh effects of winter weather ruin your skin. By adding a hydrating toner and serum that caters to dry and sensitive skin, you can easily transition from your summer skin care routine to your winter one. Let us know what you think about our list and let us know what products worked (or didn’t work) for you!
