Spotlight on Style: Aerin Lauder

American style icon Aerin Lauder was born into her position as beauty and fashion industry Royalty.
As granddaughter of the late, legendary cosmetic industry queen, Estèe Lauder, Aerin has spent her life carefully preparing to take over the family company’s reigns.
Currently the style and image director for the Estée Lauder Company, Aerin also has her own cosmetic, perfume, fashion, and furniture lines named AERIN.
Growing up Aerin didn’t have to look very far for style influences.
“My personal style is fairly traditional,” she has said. “I was definitely influenced by my mother, who always looks elegant, and by Estée's classic style; she was always in Givenchy or Ungaro.”
Her impressive family pedigree aside, Aerin also looks up to fashion industry icons that don’t bear her last name.
“My style icon is Kate Moss because of her unique dress sense,” Aerin has stated. “She is always feminine, and always effortless.”
Aerin is often attired and photographed in dresses, usually from Tracy Feith, Chloé or Michael Kors. Black pants are another staple in her wardrobe and Aerin wears every shape, from skinny to full.
She also has an affinity for both dark and white Levi's, which she gets tailored so they fit perfectly.
For evening, Aerin has embraced the short dress as of late. “I used to wear only long, but I find short really easy and versatile,” she said. “Now it feels special when I wear long."
It's impossible not to notice Lauder's affection for Marc Jacobs’ Stam handbags. She has what looks to be one in every color. "They're a wonderful balance between feminine and edgy,” she has explained. “I love the gold chain!"
Other bag favorites include Balenciaga, Chloé, and black Ralph Lauren Ricky bags.
When it comes to shoes, Aerin limits herself to either flats or four-inch heels, and nothing in between.
She is the proud owner of a rainbow of flats by Marc Jacobs, Christian Louboutin, Miu Miu, and Lanvin. Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin stilettos and sandals are her heels of choice.
Aerin does not discriminate when it comes to jewelry.
"I love both real and fake jewelry,” she has said. “My kids make me necklaces, and I wear those, too. Every day, I wear my gold wedding band and the Cartier watch my husband gave me. Most of my fine jewelry has been a gift to me from Estée or my parents or my husband, but I did buy myself a black serpent bracelet from Fred Leighton. And I'm obsessed with Kazuko's heart pendants."
The beauty staple Aerin is never without is a nude lip-gloss. “Because of my family name, I have been asked constantly over the years about the contents of my make-up bag; the essentials eventually became the inspiration for launching my brand. I felt that there was a real gap in the cosmetics market for what I loved most: modern yet feminine products that emphasize a woman’s natural prettiness.”
