Perfecting The Cat Eyeliner

It seems like when we’re young we look to our mothers for beauty tips and inspiration. Something about watching your mother get ready for date night or even just getting ready for the day was so mesmerizing. One trick we never seemed able to master just like mom was the cat eye. How could she get it so sharp? So pigmented? And everytime her flick was impeccable. We talked to mom and got some tips on how to master this classic eyeliner look.

First, it’s all about product and formula. Liquid eyeliner works best for creating a sharp and precise line. Look for an eyeliner with a fine tip and a smooth formula for easy application. But if you like a more diffused and smoky look then a kohl or kajal eyeliner is very pigmented as well but you will need a good eyeshadow brush to blend it out. Next, some like to start on the outer corner with the flick and then draw inwards but it’s best to have your solid base on your lid and then the trick is to draw your tip out towards the end of your brow so both sides are even.

Once you’ve got these two steps down its time to fill in that gap between the base of your flick and the base, this is the easy part out of the entire process and you can’t really mess it up. After this it’s time to clean up any mistakes. An uneven base or perhaps your wing tip isn’t as sharp is easily remedied with a Q-tip and makeup remover or our personal favorite is to use concealer. Finish your look with some mascara and a bold lip and voila, just like mom does it.
