How To Master the Slouchy Look

Ironically the slouchy, oversized, relaxed look has a method to its madness. It's about comfort + style + proportions + balance. Whether you're going for a casual look or aiming to achieve a high fashion ensemble, mastering the art of oversized fashion can elevate your style game and have you exuding confidence while looking chill as heck.

Okay, so obviously you want to choose oversized silhouettes when mastering the slouchy look. Look for tops, jackets, and sweaters that drape just over the shoulders and are made from fabrics that are lightweight like linens and cotton. There’s a difference between garments that are relaxed and voluminous but don’t appear to be ill-fitting.

On that note, you’re going to want to pay attention to the balance of each garment you’re styling together. For example, if you’re pairing slouchy pants and an oversized men’s style blazer then style your look with a fitted tee or tank top. Or consider cinching your waist with a corset belt or doing the “French” tuck with your top.

Our other suggestion is to play around with layering. Layering scarves and accessories onto your look will tie it altogether. Try layering a cardigan over your top and an oversized blazer or even an even bigger sweater to add depth to your look. Layering is a great way to easily create new silhouettes and gives you the opportunity to create many looks from a few pieces. What do you think about the slouchy look? Lazy or love?
