Loungewear Is A BFF
I have become infatuated with loungewear. In the 1930s, women would call it “receiving wear,” meaning it wasn’t pajamas and it wasn’t formal wear but it was clothing like dresses, robes and even pant sets that were suitable to wear for receiving company. I always loved this notion and it dawned on me the other day after I got home and changed into more comfortable clothes that I would be wearing to entertain some friends for coffee and lunch, that loungewear and receiving clothes are essentially the same thing.
A soft, cream cashmere set and some comfortable slip-on shoes have been my go-to outfit that I change into as soon as I get home.
They’re not quite pajamas so my brain isn’t thinking about bedtime and yet they’re much more comfortable than the jeans I was wearing all day. The more you know...
“Loungewear, streetwear, pajama-wear...what “wear” is most comfortable for you? Loungewear is just an upgrade for “receiving clothes” not much has changed since the ‘30s. “
