Halloween But Make It Cute
Halloween is just around the corner, and then it seems Thanksgiving follows immediately. Is it just us or are the seasons just whipping by at warped speed? It feels like we were just in the month of March and now we’re heading to our local pumpkin patch to pick out only the best for carving. Perhaps this year is a little different...okay a lot different then any Halloween that’s come before it but we’re determined to stay festive and positive. How can we do that you ask? We turned our home into the ideal Halloween/Autumn/Thanksgiving oasis this year using simple additions and we’re going to tell you how you can do the same.
When we think of autumn we immediately associate a scent with it. We smell warm aromas like cinnamon and pumpkin or vanilla and coffee. Transforming our home into a fall oasis begins with smell. When we walk into our home we are overwhelmed with scents from the season and we are relaxed and eased by them. So, we picked up a few P.F. Candle Co. Spiced Pumpkin Soy Candles as well as some Archipelago Pumpkin Macchiato Home Diffuser sets to scatter around the house and get that holiday spirit going. We love the candles because not only do they smell festive but they are also in decorative mason jars that give the house a vintage, crafty vibe which we associate with during the more spooky months. The home diffuser from Archipelago Botanicals is perfect for rooms like the bathroom or laundry room because it provides a long lasting fresh scent that is appropriate for places that need a stronger scent.
Now that we’ve got our house smelling like the autumn months, it's time to decorate it as such. Now we’re sure you've got the outside covered with pumpkins and gourds alike, but what about the inside? We tend to focus on the pumpkin carving and the toilet paper ghost making and neglect the inside of our home but we’re going to change that this year since our usual trick-or-treating plans are a bit different this year. We want to bring the season to us and what better way than to invest in indoor decorations.Who said pumpkins couldn’t come inside? Not us, that’s why we’re obsessed with the Allstate Marble Pumpkin collection. Various shapes, sizes and colors of pumpkins in a marble pattern that we used to scatter around the house. It’s a contemporary take on the traditional orange or white pumpkin that’s done by swirling the two together. Our house comes alive with these decorations and the whole family agrees we should keep them up at least until December 1st. For a more spooky theme, Allstate has a great decorative skull that’s great for playing “elf-on-the-shelf,” Halloween edition. It balances out our sweet, traditional decorations by providing a more edgy presence.
Finally, we love a good textual decoration. We’re not so much into the live, laugh, love pillow but something with a bit more kick and sass. The Primitives Art Boxes take a jab
at witty sayings this Halloween season and we are having our fun placing them throughout the house next to our candles and marble pumpkins. Our favorites are, “secretly a witch,” and “trick or treat yo’self.” Don’t mind if we do! These subtly humorous box signs are a nice finish to our indoor decorating. Using these three items to create a holiday vibe is easy and it shows us that we don’t have to go all out to bring that holiday joy into our home. Now, if you thought that we had fun decorating for Halloween, wait until Christmas comes around, then we will really have some fun. ;)
