Hair!

The Closet Correspondent is usually a space where we discuss new trends, styling tips and solutions but today we’re going to something a little different. Today we’re talking hair. We were thinking about how our style changes from season to season or even day to day. Then we thought about how our skin kind of does the same thing hence us having the epiphany that our hair follows the same trend of change. Observing (as we love to do) the fabulous women strutting the streets of our fabulous city we noticed there are three major hair trends that women seem to be loving. Today we’re going to break down those looks and our recommended products to achieve optimum results. This should be fun so let’s get to it.

The Curtain Bang

Okay, it seems like our social media has been flooded with the curtain bang trend. Whether it’s the ladies hitting the salon for the cut or at-home hacks on how to achieve this fast growing trend. So if you don’t know the curtain bang is basically a 2020s version of the Farah Fawcett wispy bang. You guys know the one I’m talking about, we mean who can forget such great, monumental hair?! It’s essentially taking the two front pieces of your hair a.k.a. your ‘money pieces' and curling them outward and upward to reveal bangs that, well, look like curtains or drapes. They perfectly frame your face and have this fun and flirty effect.

The “Hailey Beiber” Bun

Or the” Kendall Jenner Bun” or the “tight low bun” or the “TikTok viral bun” whatever you call it, it’s the chicest and quickest hair style on the market right now. This bun isn’t your average style. Usually parted down the middle of your scalp, (side part works too) and brushed using gel or hair mousse, you first sweep your hair into a tight ponytail. Make sure you’re using a bristle brush to make sure there aren’t any bumps in your ponytail. Next, you can take the same product and run it through the actual ponytail after which you twist and wrap around the base of the pony and secure with either bobby pins or another hair elastic. This last part really depends on the length and thickness of your hair. Give the hair one more brush over using a hairspray and voila! You have mastered the ‘supermodel bun,’ or whatever it’s called. You get the picture.

The Flat Finish

This last style we want to highlight isn’t as show stopping as our previous contenders. In fact she’s actually a classic style but let’s not discount her power and the hold she has on women these days. We’ve noticed that the middle-part, pin straight and sleek look is really making a comeback. It’s giving us early 2000s Heidi Klum and we’re here for it. There’s not a lot of fuss over this style and it's actually quite simple to achieve this icy style. All you need is a straightener, some anti-frizz product and a lovely shine spray or oil to top her off. Simply start with fresh, dry and moisturized hair. Make sure to add a heat protectant before you take that straightener to the strands. Make sure your middle part is dead center by splitting the hair right between the eyes. After you’ve straightened that mane take your dry oil and sleek it over the mid-length to the ends and ladies you’re done.
