Gemini Season Continues
Calling all Geminis! It's your time, it's your season and we truly love all of our Gemini readers. There are so many Gemini women that we admire, cherish and absolutely adore. Last week we looked at some of Natalie Portman’s best personal and red-carpet style moments. Her use of bright colors such as oranges and yellows and her love of statement accessories like handbags and oversized sunglasses always make her look interesting and pulled together. Before we look at our next Gemini woman of the week let’s recap what we know about Geminis...
Geminis are known to have “two sides.” Ask anyone you know about the Gemini character traits and you might get some eye-rolling or some hesitant laughter. That’s only because this sign tends to get a bad rap for being “two-faced.” Whereas this can be true it's a common misconception that tends to overshadow all of their other redeemable qualities. For example, Geminis are extremely observant and they’re always “taking notes” on what’s going on around them. They are also extremely curious, excited about life and always willing to help those who need it. The super smart, super clever and super special sign lies between the dates of May 22 - June 22. The sign is represented by the “celestial twins” and are known for having larger than life personalities which can be fun when it comes to their personal style. Mixing their practicality with their wild side can create a funky mix of eclectic style.
We previously mentioned Angelina Jolie as another infamous Gemini woman. It’s an understatement to say that Jolie has had decades worth of noteworthy fashion moments. From her grunge, wild days of the 90s to her elegant floor length gowns of the last decade, there is no doubt that the “eclectic” Gemini style attribute definitely applies to her fashion history. Unlike Natalie Portman, we don’t see an abundance of color variety in Jolie’s style; what we do see are a range of silhouettes, accessories and textural gowns. As Angelina has “grown up” in front of the camera, she opts for more classic pieces and color patterns. There are a lot of neutrals and pastels in her wardrobe but it's always interesting and true to her Gemini side because of how she wears them. Perhaps the less dominant celestial twin is responsible for her style choices and the wilder, more dominant twin guides how this force-of-nature actress acts in her life on and off screen.
Want to embody Angelina’s style in real time? We have some tips we’ve picked up from the award winning style icon. One thing we’ve noticed is that Angelina loves a cream statement jacket. Mix that with her love for classic silhouettes and we have this St. John Boucle Tweed Knit Jacket. The retro/modern slit sleeves are a nice contrast to this classic tweed jacket and is definitely something we could see Angelina Jolie wearing on the street or arriving at an event. We also like this Oswin Belted Cotton Blend Trench Coat from The Row. This trench has that timeless essence that is not only versatile but durable as well and can be styled in numerous ways; plus Angelina loves a good trench coat as we often see her wearing one during the colder months. Another Angelina Jolie signature we can’t ignore is her love for satin. Her red carpet gowns or even her blouses and skirts are often made of this slinky favorite. This Fallen For You Satin High/Low Dress by Lulus is something we could see Angelina wearing at a red carpet event or even to a party. The high/low silhouette can be dressed up or down and the waist tie is flattering for every body type. Angelina’s minimalist style the last decade is a stark contrast to her brooding, rebellious fashion choices of the 90s, but hey each celestial twin has their day in the light right? At the end of the day we can learn a lot from Angelina Jolie’s style choices from both past and present. What did you learn from the elegant starlet?
