Easy 5-Minute 90s Makeup Look
Makeup is an easy way to quickly revisit nostalgic times of the past. Want to visit the 80s? Try a neon eyeshadow and pigmented blush. Still reminiscing about Y2K style? Then a cat-eye liner and sharp contour are just a swipe away. For us, 90s makeup is always classic and we actually still like to recreate 90s makeup in our daily lives. It’s simple, uses neutral shades and is great for a day-to-night look. Here’s our easy, 5-minute 90s makeup look that has become our signature go-to.
First, you're going to want to start with a neutral base on your eye using a concealer or eyeshadow primer. This ensures your shadow will last all day and help your shadow appear more pigmented. Use a black or dark brown eye pencil to line your upper lid and don’t worry if it’s perfect. The key to 90s makeup is that it isn’t perfect but a little more lived in and softer looking. Use your finger or shadow brush to smudge the liner out and then go in with a neutral cream or powder shadow on top. Neutrals like browns, grays or mauves are good shades to stick to for this look.
Then, you want to take that same pencil you used for your top lid and tight line your bottom lid. This is basically the icing on the cake and what makes it a true 90s look. Lining the bottom lid defines your eyes, gives a smoky appearance and brightens the eyes as well. Finally, this look is incomplete without mascara; and lots of it. Apply a couple coats to the top lashes in the darkest black you own and also one coat to your bottom lashes. Voila! A classic 90s look that takes only five minutes (or less).
