Springtime Colors
Spring is known for its blooming color. Literally. The flowers, the green grass and the blue sky are all out to play and so is our color palette for dressing for spring. Spring, unlike fall and winter, seems to inspire us to get out of our all black get ups and add some liveliness back to our looks. What better way to draw inspiration than from the flowers and of course the fabulous fashionistas on the catwalks and the sidewalks? So, what exactly do we think are going to be the most popular color trends for this upcoming spring? Style Sonata investigates...
We’ve been hearing a lot about how green is making a big wave this spring. Whether it’s a garment, a monochromatic outfit or simply being worn as an accent color, green is shaping up to be the main color scheme star of this upcoming season. Celadon, lime green, emerald, evergreen and even fern are all real shades of green that we think are going to be making an impact this spring. Consider mixing and matching different shades of green to create a monochromatic outfit or using different textures like satins and velvets to add dimension to your look. If you’re looking to incorporate your greens in other ways than just your smoothies, then maybe go for an accent scarf or even an emerald statement necklace.
Another color that we’ve been seeing a lot of recently, and most noticeably on the runways of NYFW and subsequent streetwear looks, is pink! It seems pretty obvious that pink would be a perfect color for spring but we feel like the last few seasons it was a bit too obvious and that was leading the fashion scene away from wearing too much pink. However, we think this color is going to be big this season because of the rise of trends like cottagecore and of course, ballet core which we have previously discussed before on the site. Whether you’re opting for a dusty rose color tone or going all out with Barbie hot pink, you really can’t go wrong, we just recommend styling this color with creativity and originality.
Now, Pantone named Viva Magenta as the color of the year this 2023 but it named Digital Lavender the fashion color of the year. So, what’s the difference? Viva Magenta is certainly considered more of a reddish pink color and Digital Lavender is a light, dusty purple. We have to say we’re a bit weary of Viva Magenta and glad to welcome Digital Lavender as the fashion color of the season and since it’s the fashion color we expect to really see it take off this spring compared to any other season this year because of it’s flirty and feminine nature which is perfect for the springtime. We’re excited to style this color in maxi satin skirts as well as footwear and bathing suits as well. We think that Digital Lavender is the quintessential spring color and we’re excited to see our favorite brands use this color in their collections.
