Celebrity Brands: Worth The Hype?

Oh boy. Hear that? It's another celebrity posting an Instagram about their new brand! It seems like our feeds are jaded with celebrities clamoring to share their new skincare or makeup brand. Which ones are legit? Which ones are worth the hype? Which ones are we shopping for? We have some insight into which ones you should be paying attention to.

Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez is one of the more recent celebrities to pioneer her own makeup brand. We rate this brand a 9/10. First of all we love the clean and simple packaging across all products and the overall aesthetic is carefully designed and curated and feels like Selena Gomez. The actual quality of her makeup is superb. We especially love her blushes which are super pigmented, a little goes all the way and her tinted lip balms, our favorite is Thankful. Beyond the quality and packaging we also think her pricing is competitive but fair and great for the quality of products.

Celebrities have been flocking to the skincare and makeup industry but others like Shay Mitchell have filled another niche: luggage. Her brand Beis has made a name for itself overnight by creating luggage and other bags that specialize in keeping your stuff organized and maximizing every nook and cranny of space possible so you can travel efficiently and leave nothing behind. The aesthetic is minimalist with basic core colors like beige, cream and black being the main palette so it’s easy to build a matching and cohesive collection. Our favorite is the Mini Weekender in Citron.

What do you think about celebrity brands? Should they branch out or stick to what they do best?
