A Minimalist Muse - Rosie Huntington Whitely

Instagram seems to be the place where those of us, famous or not, take to posting our OOTD or our outfit of the day. One avid participant in this trend is model Rosie Huntington Whiteley. The Victoria's Secret and runway fashion model mother of one is known for her weekly “photo dumps” which consist of her various outfits she’s worn that week. The tall, slender blonde is known and celebrated for her personal style which is typically known to be modern, minimalist and carefully curated. We chose three looks straight from the model’s Instagram and our Bunny and Kailyn had some thoughts...

Look 1:
K:
Okay Bunny, what do you think of this look? Because I generally like it, I really do but

of course I want to know what you think.

B: Well first off, it's definitely very chic, there’s no doubt about that, but I’m not so much of a minimalist - like I know you are. Of course I would love to see more accessorizing, perhaps some rings or even a bracelet wouldn’t hurt.

K: Ahhh yes I know you love some additional adornment, ha! Well I love Rosie and I love her style, however she definitely has a formula that she sticks to, a color palette that consists of black, white and beige and if you’ve ever seen her home, its the same way.

B: Totally fine to have your ‘aesthetic’ no matter how repetitive it may be, yet would some shimmer benefit this look? I think so.

K: True, totally. I’m not too crazy about the shirt paired with the trench. They’re both kind of bulky and bunched so I’m not totally loving that but the Bottega crossbody is such a great statement piece and I’ve seen her with it in multiple IG posts, so obviously it's a favorite which I appreciate because so many celebs never want to be seen wearing the same thing twice.

Look 2:

B: Okay first impression is that this look is very “Mr. Anderson” from the Matrix but I like it. It’s giving an undercover spy energy but not like a costume for a party or something.

K: Yes!!! I get the same vibe. It's almost like a uniform, very utilitarian but also very chic. I love the black combat boot with the relaxed white shirt and of course there is that Bottega Veneta bag again making a reappearance.

B: I keep thinking though how a pop of color could really elevate this look. A blue satin scarf or perhaps a monogram belt to literally tie it together. It kind of feels lacking, but then again that’s kind of what minimalism is about isn’t it?

K: Not surprised you would say that Bunny, I know you love a good accessory, especially a scarf, haha!

B: Well you know me well, you can always add an accessory because the more the better, right? Sincerely, a fellow maximalist ;)

K: I think I really like this look because one, it’s a more masculine vibe than what Rosie normally brings to the table and two, well, because it is such a simple look that one (me) could replicate at home with things already in my closet. And also, I appreciate that her photos are always taken in that fabulous bathroom of hers.

Look 3:

B: So, still a minimalist trend, not surprising coming from Rosie, but the fact that the mini dress is leather, I’m loving that. It’s edgy and the length, the shrugged sleeves, the leather texture and the cinched waist make it super sexy.

K: I agree with you on this one. The boots also keep it feeling edgy and kind of tough. If this look was paired with a strappy heel or stiletto, it would still be fabulous but definitely a very different vibe altogether. I love the dress because it’s so versatile.

B: This is probably my favorite look...I have to mention that Rosie really loves those oversize shades and of course that Bottega quilt bag! I’m not mad or knocking it, I actually love her allegiance to a good essential accessory.

K: It's refreshing and familiar and only makes me want that bag even more after constantly seeing it. She obviously truly adores it as well. Well, Bunny it seems we see eye to eye more than I thought when it comes to our differences regarding minimalist style.

B: That’s called having good taste, K ;)
