Spanish Translation

by Bunny Fayne |

We’ve talked about many of the latest hottest trends separately. Like a puzzle, it takes placing all the pieces together to get the full picture. The over-arching theme in fashion now is femininity at its finest and full-on romance. Therefore, it makes perfect sense that Spanish influenced styles are the common thread that ties many of today’s trends together Whether you’re talking about lace, ruffles, florals, off-the-shoulder looks, embroidery or pom-poms or pointy-toed shoes – Spanish style is red-hot right now.Naturally, red, black and white are the team colors that symbolize a love of all things Latin. A ruffled white blouse is the perfect summer item to have, as it can be worn with skirts, slacks, jeans and even shorts. In fact, any of the new ruffled tops or dresses will give you that perfect dash of spice needed to be obviously on-trend with the Latin look. The current plethora of off-shoulder ensembles is reminiscent of bohemian, Flamenco-inspired outfits. Try pairing a long, flowy skirt with an off-the-shoulder top for a deliciously sexy and simple combination that shows off your collar bones and décolletage to their best advantage. The current, lingerie as outerwear looks work perfectly with this theme for a sultry, Spanish-inspired evening look. Slide on a lacy, black slip dress with a pair of stilettos and finish with a dark red, flowered hair piece and heads will turn. Spanish-inspired embroidery is all that is needed for a glamorous daytime wardrobe. Sophisticated suits in deep, red poppy closed with black ribbon and worn with stiletto espadrilles is about as dramatic as it gets. Tassels, tassels and more tassels are the final touch, on handbags, shoes, jewelry and jackets that can take any outfit and give it a Latin touch that is understated, yet clearly understood. The same goes for poms- poms.As is the case with so many styles, the Latin-look can all too easily come off as costumey if too many elements are worn together. Subtlety is always preferable to head to toe anything, regardless of the trend.
