On "Character"
Character Definition One:  The qualities that make a person different from others.  Strength and originality in a person's nature.  A person's good reputation.
Well, now!  I am absolutely different from others.  A true original.  Hey  I'm me and ain't nobody like me!  I am also a person of nature, since I do like to hug trees, on occasion and enjoy communing with the flowers and fauna.  A good reputation?  Ha!  Well, that all depends upon whom you ask.
Definition Two:   A person in a novel, play, movie or TV show.  An eccentric or amusing character.
As a writer of novels and screenplays, I believe one must inhabit each and every character in one's musings.  Example:  I'm a ten year old girl who is bullied at school.  Or... I'm a cold-blooded murderer.  Yikes!  Luckily, I've never written about or been either.  On the other hand, a good writer can, should, must be able to imagine from their life's experiences and of course, by extensive research, anyone and anything.
To me, character is who you are in your soul.  Once a character leaves this earth, do their souls still have character?  I have no idea, but I'm not ready to find out.  While still walking this dusty earth, this terra firma, yes, I am a character with loads of character, a silly, amusing character who writes silly, amusing characters.  And I wouldn't have it any other way.  So here's to having character and always being one!
