Tonal Dressing
Tonal dressing is the fashion world’s newest approach to minimalist fashion. Now, it’s not to be confused with monochromatic styling which is when we choose a color and use it to create a seamlessly cohesive look. Usually when monochromatic dressing you choose one color, for example, green and use that shade in different textures and patterns to guide your outfit.
One of our favorite things about tonal dressing is its versatility. You can experiment with a wide range of colors, from soft pastels to rich jewel tones, to create a tonal look that suits your personal style. For example, you can go for a head-to-toe blush pink ensemble with varying shades of pale pink, dusty rose, and blush keeping your look interesting and full of depth but it feels and looks put together and cohesive and not overwhelmingly chaotic. The key to the tonal look is to mix different textures and fabrics within the same color family to add dimension to your outfit.
Tonal dressing is great if you have a capsule wardrobe closet or are interested in building one. Choosing curated pieces in the same color family makes it easy when getting ready for work, going out with friends or for a night out. Plus, when choosing shades that are neutral or jewel toned, you can be guaranteed that you can pair these garments with other pieces in your closet.
