Summer Glow Awaits
Whether you're a makeup novice or a seasoned pro, follow these expert tips to achieve a flawless bronzed and contoured look this summer.
Before diving into bronzing and contouring, ensure your skin is well-prepped. Start with a clean, moisturized face followed by a lightweight primer to create a smooth base for makeup application. Since we are anticipating spending lots of time outdoors this summer you don’t want to forget the sunscreen. We suggest a mineral broad spectrum sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. Next, you want to make sure you choose the correct products. For example for bronzing, choose for a matte or shimmer bronzer that is complementary to your skin tone. These bronzers also work well for contouring as they provide natural looking shadows. On the other hand cream or powder contouring kits and dual ended sticks let you have more control of desired intensity.
Once you’ve assembled your products, you need to identify your specific and unique zones for contouring. A good rule of thumb is to use the natural shadows of your face such as the hollows of your cheeks, along the jawline, the sides of the nose and the temples are all common places to be sculpted. It’s best to always start by applying a small amount of products and build from there because you want to avoid any visible harsh lines. After you’ve laid the blueprint, you want to blend, blend and blend some more. Using a blending brush or a beauty sponge you want to use circular motions and tapping motions to help diffuse those harsh lines you outlined before.
Besides using bronzing and contouring methods to add warmth to your visage, you are also aiming to enhance your already beautifully natural features. To further this goal, add bronzer to the high points of your face, places where the sun already naturally hits such as the cheekbones, forehead and bridge of your nose.
To elevate this look even more, add a touch of highlighter to the top of your cheekbones, the brow bone and your cupid's bow to create subtle illumination and depth as well. To finish off the look, apply a dewy setting spray to secure your look and keep it looking fresh all day long.
