Silky Smooth
With winter comes snow, the holidays and joy but unfortunately it also brings a dry and bitter cold that can really take its toll on our skin, especially our hands and feet. There’s nothing worse than dry cracked hands and feet and personally we feel uncomfortable and even self conscious about the wear and tear it does to our skin. So, how to remedy this? With proper hydration and moisturization from natural products, you can easily say goodbye to that pesky dry skin in both of these problem areas and we’ve got some products and ingredients that you actually might already own in your beauty or medicine cabinet.
When it comes to choosing products for your dry hands and feet, it's important to select moisturizers that are specifically designed for these areas. What works for your dry skin on your face isn’t going to cut it with these areas that have thicker skin. Thick, rich creams and ointments with ingredients like shea butter, glycerin, or hyaluronic acid give your skin deep hydration and also a protective barrier to absorb and lock in moisture. Its also a good tip to look for products that are fragrance free or contain any kind of scent.
In addition to store bought creams and moisturizers we also strongly suggest seeking out natural remedies as well. For dryness, coconut oil, olive oil and aloe vera are heavy hitters to combat really dry and stressed skin. A tip we love is an easy DIY where you mix an oil of your choice and add essential oil drops such as lavender or eucalyptus and give yourself a good hand and foot massage. You can also make your own homemade sugar scrub using oil, essential oils and of course sugar for a pre-massage exfoliator that only takes a few minutes to make and you know all of the ingredients being used. Finally, there are some preventative measures you can take to combat dry skin such as drinking lots of water and eating foods high in omega-3 ingredients which work from the inside out to hydrate your skin.
Does any of this sound familiar to you? If so, try some of our tips, tricks and products and let us know which ones worked, or didn’t work for you. We know that tonight we’re going to indulge in a nice sugar scrub and olive oil foot massage, what about you?
