Nail Care After a Gel or Acrylic Manicure
One of my favorite self-care activities to do is to get a manicure. I love to spend the afternoon soaking my toes and getting my nails tended to with a good gel manicure. However, I don’t enjoy the way my nails look when I remove the gel or when I’m in between manicure appointments but I’ve found a few at-home care tips that I can’t go without after I’ve taken my gel manicure out. These tips are also good if you get regular gel or acrylic manicures.
First, I make sure that if I’m removing my gel manicure, that I’m doing it the correct way which is to soak the gel off of the nails. I never peel or pick at them because whereas a gel manicure isn’t damaging, taking them off incorrectly is. Second, I make sure to keep my nails in a round shape so they don’t peel or snag on anything. Third, I make sure to always keep my hands moisturized with a cream or lotion and oil on my cuticles. Another thing I do that’s great for my hands and nails is to always use gloves when I’m doing the dishes so the excessive water doesn’t weaken my nails and skin. Finally, for my last tip I like to use some sort of nail strengthening product in between manicures to strengthen them.
That’s it! Those are my in-between manicure tips for when I’m not wearing gel polish. These are great for those of you who wear acrylics and even gel extension tips. Shop my favorite nail treatment products below and let me know how you care for your hands and nails at home.
