Maternity Trends

If we’ve learned anything about maternity fashion trends this last year, it’s that going bold with your bump is the way to go. It goes without saying that Rihanna has really broken down barriers on what is “acceptable” to wear as an expectant mother and has liberated thousands of women along with her on her own two pregnancies. Other celebrities like Aimee Song, Adriana Lima and Kourtney Kardashian have followed suit and demonstrated some chic ways to maintain their own personal style and ditch the elastic waistband pants among other traditional maternity wear during their 9-month magical journey. Here are some of our favorite maternity wear trends we’ve seen this last year.

As we said, maternity pants, especially denim, are notorious for that stretchy waistband that grows with your bump. However, the quality of denim and the styles available are extremely limited and let’s face it, not that chic. Take a cue from style blogger and fashionista Aimee song and opt for wearing men’s denim instead. We already love our vintage Levi’s denim and opting for a pair of men’s straight leg distressed denim or denim cutoff shorts and rocking it low-rise below the belly is a chic way to still style your favorite denim styles.

Another trend, which seems to be becoming more and more stylish (and sexy, if we may add) is to expose the bump. Yup, girl you are growing life inside of you and that’s amazing, so show that belly off. Crop tops are a great way to show off your bump but pairing your favorite bralette or swim top with a cardigan partly buttoned is another chic and creative (and easy) way to style your growing belly. Plus, when styled with your low-cut denim shorts and some comfy sandals, it is a great way to keep cool this summer. Our third trend, but certainly not our last to share, is how to accessorize your baby bump. Waist beads and chains are a great way to accentuate your pregnant belly because they’re sexy, come in an endless variety of styles and they’re adjustable so you can continue to wear them throughout all stages of your term.

Whether you try one of these trends or combine them all into one amazing outfit, you can’t go wrong with embracing your bump. Pregnancy shouldn’t prevent you from feeling like you can’t still show off your pre-pregnancy style. It’s all about embracing that divine feminine energy and feeling confident, fabulous and empowered. Should we share more of our favorite pregnancy trends? Let us know what you think of these and which ones you would try.
