Keep Your Eyes on These Trends
Or should we say keep your eyes in these sunglasses trends for summer 2024. Are sunglasses the most essential accessory for the summer? We think next to a golden suntan and a hydrated pout, the next most essential accessory are a good pair of sunglasses. Sure, we can don a cool pair of shades all year long, but when summer is here to stay, we’re ready to play with new silhouettes and styles. As we’ve been keeping a finger on the hottest trends and their development, we’ve noticed that minimalism has taken a backseat when it comes to clothing, and maximalism has taken the driver’s seat and that comes to sunglasses and eyewear as well.
One trend that we’re excited to play with are retro aviators. Thick and bold frames with playful hues such as yellows, blues and oranges are just some of the color lenses we’re excited to play with this season. Try stepping into these timelessly elegant Max Mara Orsola Acetate Aviator Sunglasses, featuring a sleek acetate frame and classic aviator design for a sophisticated yet effortlessly chic statement.
Another competing trend in sunglasses is the cat-eye lens. Seen on Beyonce and Dua Lipa in recent months, this quirky yet feisty silhouette is playful and feels a little dangerous at the same time. For those of you who like to err on the side of mystery, or if you just want to make a flirtatious statement for summer, this style could be your next go-to.
Finally, the last trend we want to give honorable mention is the “fake” eyewear trend. Meaning, we’ve been seeing a lot of clear lensed, non-prescription glasses in 90s inspired rectangle shapes circulating red carpets and streetwear alike. Stars like Doja Cat, Amelia Gray and Bella Hadid have been known to have claimed this style as early as last year and Vogue calls it, “geek is chic,” and we couldn’t agree more. Is this a new potential trend that could be dubbed, Librarian Core? Did we just coin that? Well, you heard it here first you guys. Which one of these trends are you going to be trying this summer?
