Instant gratification
Instant gratification. Instant manifestation. Instant clarification. This day and age is all about the here and the now but perhaps we’ve taken it a bit too far. Its one thing to live for the moment but the need for instant gratification has been taken to new heights. Social media seems to be the perpetual force behind this rising trend. Constant posting and sharing has us all living in a virtual fairy tale land that, let's face it, isn’t reality.
When we say, “here and now,” we want to take it back to its original meaning. To live for the moment. To look around and accept with total peace and knowing that we are in fact right where we’re supposed to be. Everything in life happens at the perfect time. Cells multiply in perfect sync, the birds migrate the same time each season and flowers bloom when they’re supposed to. Why can’t we see our own lives like the cells, birds and flowers? All happening at the time it’s meant to.
You would think this would be easy to accept, because it’s actually such a lovely idea. It should be comforting to know that we’re all operating at the frequency and time we’re supposed to. Looking at the petals on flowers and leaves on trees it seems so simple, but if you’re ever in an existential crisis perhaps this idea of perfection can ground you and remind you that it's all going to work out. Inspiration comes when it’s needed, people reach out at the right time and opportunities that seemed impossible become possible. It’s all in perfect timing.
Flawlessness, accuracy, consistency or whatever you want to call it, perfect timing seems to come when we least expect it. Just like with flowers, we seem to know that they will bloom come springtime, yet we’re always pleasantly surprised when we look out at our yard and see our lilies blooming or when we walk by our local florist and see our favorite shade of tulip on display. It brightens our day or maybe it makes us smile and reminisce on what we were up to last spring.
Now if only we could take it back to the beginning and live in the moment, for the here and now. Think of those flowers and how they aren’t in a rush to bloom today or tomorrow but in their appointed time and season. Life is the same in that way, everything happening at the right time it’s supposed to. All we have to do is show up and trust in perfect timing.
