How To Style Slips as Dresses The Right Way
We’re all aware that slips were originally designed to be worn underneath dresses as a way to smooth out lines and prevent clothing from clinging to the body. However, in recent years, slips have become a fashion statement in their own right, and can be worn as dresses with the right styling. Our mothers may beg to differ but after reading about how we style slips the right way, they may feel differently.
You have to start by picking the right slip that’s appropriate to wear out. It's important to choose one that has a flattering cut and fits well. Look for slips that have a straight or A-line silhouette, as these tend to be the most flattering. Avoid slips that are too tight or too loose, as they may not provide the desired look. Layering is another great way to add some interest and depth to your outfit when styling your slip. Try layering your slip dress over a t-shirt, a long-sleeved shirt, or a sweater to create a more casual look. You can also add a blazer or a denim jacket to add some structure and edge to your outfit.
Adding a pair of heels like strappy sandals, wedges or a cute kitten pump can totally change the look of your skip dress or skirt but so can adding a pair of loafers, chunky sandals and our personal favorite, sneakers for a casual streetwear look. Of course it’s always important to carefully choose undergarments such as a strapless or backless bra to not show through bulkily through your look. We love this look because it’s so versatile and easy to style in endless amounts of ways. It’s quickly become our go-to look for numerous occasions even though we’re still trying to convince our mothers. Oh well, one day.
