Happiness Is

Over the past few months, we’ve been having Conversations With the most dynamic women — women of all ages, shades, shapes and sizes, from diverse backgrounds and specialties. And we laughed a little … dabbled in the frivolous and inconsequential a little. But we also got to share deeper musings on life and lessons learnt. One of the questions we asked these superwomen was what is happiness. This concept can be so fleeting and so subjective. We really wanted to know what these women, whom we admired, thought about happiness.

Many people think passively about happiness, but when we are forced to really think about what this means, it can be very challenging. Firstly, there’s our personal definition of happiness and what it means to us. And then there is what society predefines as happy. And somehow, we have to find a way to navigate between the two, which can sometimes be very conflicting.

There is a version of happiness to be found in…honoring the present moment and living a life so full that you can’t wait to go to bed, wake up and do it all over again.

So today, we’re sharing what 5 amazing women told us about this elusive thing called happiness. And may we suggest that, as we continue to reflect and try to make sense of this new reality we are forced to face, we also check in often with ourselves and ask that simple but important question: What makes me happy? And if we were to weave a web from all the thoughts of these amazing ladies on what happiness is, it would appear that there is a version of happiness to be found in living freely. In finding the love and laughter out there with loved ones who value and appreciate you. It is found in honoring the present moment and living a life so full that you can’t wait to go to bed, wake up and do it all over again. Happiness is living life fully.
