Essential Items for Your Closet: Part One
Hello again! This week I wanted to dive right in and talk about some essential clothing items every woman should have in her closet. There are so many lists out there, some good and some “eh.” I wanted to round up a few items that I myself own and believe you should too. You can find these items right from the comfort of your own home! Yes, that means you probably already own many of these items and if you don’t then you can head to Neiman’s or Nordstrom online and shop the picks I have below. Okay, let’s get started.
The first item you will find on many other sites as well and that’s the classic white button down shirt. This item is crisp and can be used in a professional setting or in a casual one. The thing about this shirt is you can never, ever, ever own too many because no two whiitie shirts are the same, I can guarantee you that. I own countless white shirts; some are oversized boyfriend fits, others are linen and I even own a couple short sleeve ones as well. My favorite right now is the Dobby Classic Shirt from Treasure and Bond. It's relaxed and makes the smooth transition from work to play by simply changing from a pressed pant to a boyfriend jean.
This next item is an item I’ve talked about before so it should be no surprise that an oversized blazer makes this essentials list. The oversized blazer can be worn on so many occasions. You can even pair it with the classic white shirt for professional settings, pair it with some stilettos and wear it as a dress or my personal favorite is an oversized leather blazer with some sweats and trainers for a “high-low” look. I suggest a classic black oversized blazer for your closet because of its versatility and you would be surprised at how you lived without one after you’ve purchased one. I recommend the Rushed Sleeve Blazer from Michael Kors Collection and the Vegan Leather Oversized Blazer from Bardot as good staples to have in your blazer collection. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different textures and prints to elevate your ensemble.
Just like the black blazer or the white shirt can be worn in so many ways, so can the classic black boot. You have your combat boot, your heeled boot, your pointed toe, your cowboy, your kitten heel, your ankle boot and the list goes on and on and on. You get my point right? You can’t go wrong with a black boot. It will pair well with jeans, slacks, skirts and dresses and practically any other garment you can think of. It’s an essential because of this exact reason and for the fact that it's just clean and classic in appearance. You will never just have one pair of black boots because just like the white shirt, there are different styles for different occasions but I suggest the Litton Water Repellent Chelsea Boot from Vince. This shoe has as light heel, elastic detailing around the ankles for comfort and a rubber sole to resist water. It's comfortable but it's also chic and I think essential items should not sacrifice one for the other.
Part one of this article serves as an introductory segment on the three items everyone should have in their wardrobe. Notice how I say “three” but each item you could easily own ten different variations (HA!) Oh well. In “Part Two” we’ll look at intimates, bottoms and I’ll maybe even share my essential jewelry guide. As always, I’m here to serve you so don’t be shy, leave a comment or a question below and let’s chat.
Until next week,
