Café Sips
It really is the little things in life that we seem to appreciate more as life advances forward. When I was younger there were milestones such as birthdays and anniversaries or promotions that I thought would be the times I cherished most. Make no mistake these times of my life I do smile upon fondly (for the most part) but on this dewy morning I sip my coffee and realize that more often than not it’s these stolen moments I really appreciate. It’s the intimate dinners with friends that extend way beyond closing time. It’s walking along Fillmore St. and petting the labrador that’s always outside the coffee shop. It’s attending a local gallery opening with my friend and purchasing a postcard for the refrigerator. A life is made up of all of these seemingly insignificant moments in time. I think the saying goes we don’t always remember what was said but we will always remember how we felt and this phrase is echoing in my mind today because when I think back to these glimpses I can remember the joy, the warmth and candor I felt and I smile and am grateful I have these memories to reflect on as I sip my coffee and look out my window and then it hits me...I’m creating another memory right now and I smile.
