A New Flame
It seems like self-care these days has become more of a trend than an actual way of life. From YouTube influencers to health gurus on television, there’s always a “new” way of living life “better.” I agree that we all need to take the time to be kind to ourselves but I’m not sure that always taking the advice of someone on a screen is the right way to go. So, what is the right way? For one, I don’t subscribe to the idea that happiness is something outside of us, I believe it’s something that we can attain if we pay close enough attention to our needs, but actually subscribing to a “get happy in ten days,” program may not be the answer. I start by asking myself questions like what is trying to emerge from me? And what sets my heart and mind on fire? Then I follow the answers and see where they take me.
